The Novel Coronavirus (covid-19) deaths have crossed the tragic 200,000 mark in USA. An analysis of the data provided by European CDC as of 23 Sep 2020 revealed that the figures are no better in other parts of the world.

South East Asia figures are probably low, since different states have different mechanisms for reporting deaths.

** The low figures for Central Asia could be due to low population densities.

The above table can be rolled into a smaller table, which provides a view by continent.

The penetration of the Novel Coronavirus is not uniform across the geographical regions. Broadly, Asia has over 9.5 million cases, Latin America has over 8.5 million cases, North America has over 7 million cases, Europe has over 4.5 million cases, and Africa is approaching 1.5 million cases.

The percentage of deaths is largely uniform, except for the European regions, which probably got caught in initial unawareness. It is important to note that Oceania with just 932 deaths, yields a comparable percentage (2.86%), as North America (2.98%) with over 200,000 deaths.

Very interestingly, President Trump's remark about the Novel Coronavirus that "It is what it is", has good support from data.

The data sheet obtained from European CDC as of  23 September 2020, and the Excel worksheet used for the analysis are provided below.
